3 men arrested in drug seizure

Three men were arrested in New Jersey after police executed a search warrant on Aug. 26. The raid was a result of a month-long investigation prompted by information about drug activity coming from a home on Parrott Mill Road in Chatham. A 20-year-old man and two 21-year-old men were arrested as a result of the search and seizure. All of the suspects posted bail and have been released. Officers allegedly monitored the property for a month by conducting surveillance and collecting evidence to justify obtaining a warrant for searching the home.

Officers received assistance from the K-9 unit in conducting the investigation and the search and seizure. Authorities reportedly found paraphernalia, a substance believed to be marijuana and 110 tablets of Oxycodone inside the residence. The 20-year-old Chatham man was charged for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. The 21-year-old Gillette man was charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, possession within 500 feet of a public park, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

The 21-year-old Chatham man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance within a certain distance of a public park, possession and intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. All of the suspects may benefit from meeting with defense counsel as soon as possible.

People who have been charged with a drug crime often benefit from working with criminal defense lawyers. Legal counsel may be able to help develop a strategy designed to protect the defendant's rights while attempting to obtain reduced charges. Defendants may receive lesser charges or a more lenient sentence if defense counsel can challenge the credibility of the prosecution's case.
