Man from neighboring state arrested for drug charges in New Jersey

When people are arrested in a state that they don't live in, they might not be familiar with all of the laws. Most people don't understand court procedures and how certain charges will affect them. If they are in a state that isn't their home state, they might have many questions about how charges could affect them in their home state and how they will be treated in the court system of the state where they were charged.

A man from a neighboring state was recently arrested after a traffic stop. Police say the man was going 81 mph in a 55 mph zone, and was charged with speeding, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Sometimes charges seem very similar, but they can have very different penalties if the person is convicted.

Speaking with an experienced criminal defense attorney in New Jersey might be a wise decision for anyone who is arrested. Being arrested can be a scary, nerve-racking event. When someone is in an area that is unfamiliar to them and their family, the arrest can be even more stressful. An attorney can help a person understand what rights they have, and how their situation will affect their personal and professional lives.

They can also help the person evaluate the evidence in the case and make sure their rights weren't violated at some point in an investigation. Even if a person is from another state, they still have rights that should be protected including the right to a fair trial.
